CMSUK are very pleased to host this webinar on smell and taste disorders, presented by Nina Bleasdale from Fifth Sense. The webinar will detail the impact of smell and taste disorders caused by TBI, what support is available and what Fifth Sense can do to help – it will include a patient perspective and a taste test!
Presentations aims: To raise awareness of loss of smell and taste disorders and support case managers by providing information about their impact and what resources and toolkits are there to help.
About Nina:
Nina first came across Fifth Sense after learning about the organisation on social media! At the time, she admits, she knew very little about smell and taste disorders but it didn’t take long to recognise that her episodic smell hallucinations (cigarette smoke) and her brother's (who has a learning disability and autism) acute sensitivity to smells were formally recognised conditions.
From that first chance encounter on social media, she was delighted to join Fifth Sense in early 2020 and be part of a great team all working together to make a positive difference to people living with a smell and/or taste disorder. Nina brings 15 years NHS operational experience, as well as being a qualified teacher, having an MSc in Healthcare Leadership and is a graduate of the NHS Leadership Academy Nye Bevan programme, all of which she uses to champion the importance of the senses of smell and taste, collaborate with others, engage with vital research and develop support for people affected by smell and taste disorders.
