Psychological Interventions in Trauma: A solution Focused Approach

Presentation aims: To give case managers an insight into solution focused brief therapy and its application to trauma therapy.

The difference between problem and solution-based thinking, what solution focused brief therapy is and why It can be a useful approach to treating trauma and its associated symptoms such as memory, sleeplessness, chronic pain etc.

Meet the presenter: 

Steve Flatt is the director of the Working Conversations Group which offers private therapy, training, coaching etc. He is an accredited and registered CBT Therapist with the BABCP and former chair of the United Kingdom Association For Solution Focused Practice (UKASFP).

Steve’s particular interest is in trauma: he runs Traumaticus, a national network of trauma therapists working in a primarily solution focused approach. He has worked with a number of organisations managing battlefield injuries and related psychological distress as well as civilian trauma and personal injury cases and has 30 years’ experience. He also works as a coach, mediator, and mentor to executives and managers of a number of national and international companies, including CEOs. Steve is a visiting lecturer at the University of Lancaster and an Honorary Researcher at the University of Liverpool Management School.
