We are excited to announce a special Q & A webinar session scheduled for the 21st February 2024, featuring guests Carole Chantler, Chair of IRCM and Teresa Shaw, CMSUK Director. The session aims to delve into the significance of IRCM and its impact on the professional landscape of case managers.

Background: Since 2010, dedicated members of BABICM, CMSUK, and VRA have collaboratively worked towards establishing a professional body for case managers. This collective effort has resulted in the formation of IRCM (Institute Registered Case Managers).

Webinar Purpose: The primary goal of this webinar is to equip CMSUK members with comprehensive information about IRCM and its implications for your future practice as a case manager. Carole Chantler and Teresa Shaw will provide valuable insights, address queries, and share the vision behind IRCM.

Carole has been part of the project that led to the formation of IRCM since its early days. She has been a key member of the management group taking on various roles throughout its development. Carole’s professional background is nursing, critical care. She commenced her case management career in Canada working in travel, private health and government health care case management.

In the late 90s she set up a case management company in the UK dealing with personal injury and has worked in this arena ever since.

She was a founding member of CMSUK, past chair and continues to be on the board of CMSUK as a director. She obtained her Masters in Case Management in 2011. Since 2004 Carole has worked for both Claimant and Defendant law firms advising on rehabilitation and health. She was a director of DWF for 5 years working closely with all parties involved in rehabilitation and progression of claims. She chaired the Cat Committee on the revision of the 2015 Rehabilitation Code.

Currently she has her own company where she works with all parties, advising on case management, statutory provision and rehabilitation.

Teresa qualified as a nurse in 1984 working in various roles within the NHS including pain management and critical care for 20 years. Following her NHS profession, she commenced a career in Case Management working for various companies as a case manager and clinical lead over the last 20 years.

She set up her own business in September 2019 employing a team of case managers and support staff. She is keen to promote development of new case managers and has recently supported a member of staff through successful completion of a sports rehabilitation degree. 

She carries a caseload of catastrophic multi trauma cases and is keen to share her knowledge of case management with others.

Teresa has been on the board of directors previously and has recently returned to assist the events committee with conference planning and educational events.
