CMSUK Webinar: Functional Restoration Fundamentals

We are pleased to announce that booking for our lunch-and-learn webinar 'Functional Restoration Fundamentals' is now open. This is the sixth in our 2018 series of webinars which are being offered free of charge to Members (and Pending Members) as part of CMSUK's quest to offer greater access to training and support for members.

An introduction to understanding functional restoration programmes and selecting suitable programmes for your client.

Aims of the presentation:

  • To review the history, definitions and terminology of Functional Restoration Programmes (FRPs).
  • To review models of FRPs and associated evidence base.
  • To consider the factors influencing selection of an FRP for your client.

 

Heather Watson

Chartered Physiotherapist & Director, Designed2Move Ltd

Heather qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1995, and has worked in a wide variety of occupational health (heavy engineering, retail, quarrying, healthcare), private practice and NHS settings, specialising in MSKs and persistent, complex pain, especially spinal pain after a period spent working as a Spinal Clinical Specialist ESP. She has post graduate qualifications in Occupational Health Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic Medicine and Applied Workplace Ergonomics. Heather has also been a conference speaker for over 15 years on the topics of return to work and rehabilitation for complex or demanding cases. From 2008-2012 Heather was the co-author and tutor of the ACPOHE (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health & Ergonomics) “Occupational Rehabilitation & Work Hardening” course which is part of the ACPOHE Registered Membership competency framework, which she is now updating and delivering again in 2016. Heather designed, set up and was the service clinical lead for 4 years for an NHS MSK Fitness for Work Service which won an NHS Innovation Challenge Prize for Rehabilitation in 2015, and won the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) Service Excellence Award in 2015 in the “Promoting Activity & Health Lifestyles” category. Heather was also a finalist in the 2015 Vocational Rehabilitation Associations VR Practitioner of the Year Award.

Heather now runs a clinical consultancy Designed2Move Ltd (www.designed2move.co.uk) , which provides bespoke 1-1 functional restoration and pain management programmes for injured individuals who need to return to physically demanding jobs, hobbies or daily lives. Heather has also founded Health & Work Matters Project (www.healthworkmatters.com) which provides support and education for healthcare professionals and employers regarding health and return to work issues.
