CMSUK / Bond Solon Study Day: Courtroom Skills - Giving Evidence

CMSUK in conjunction with Bond Solon are delighted to announce that the above Study Day has been organised for Thursday 9th November 2017

A one-day course designed for any professional who may be called upon to give evidence in any legal forum. Delegates will learn how to present evidence under cross-examination. The course is designed to impart knowledge, skills and to build confidence.

Course Outline:

The course is an intensive and highly practical day. The procedures in giving evidence, the order of events, and the roles of different people in the court and the process of giving evidence will be explained. The techniques lawyers use to cross-examine will also be examined.

The morning session is designed to demystify the process of giving evidence. In the afternoon delegates will experience being cross-examined by a lawyer on either a case study or a statement/report from a completed case. The course will also give a comprehensive understanding of the need for proper procedures in collecting and writing evidence.

  • Identify the techniques lawyers use in cross- examination and how to handle them

  • How to give confident and clear testimony under cross-examination

Speaker Profile - Catherine Brown

Catherine is a qualified barrister with 14 years’ experience of civil law practice. Catherine specialised in personal injury, industrial disease and clinical negligence matters. She has had extensive experience of witness handling at trial, with both expert and lay witnesses. As a Bond Solon trainer, Catherine regularly delivers Witness Familiarisation sessions for lay and expert witnesses who are required to give evidence in courts and other legal forums, both in the UK and abroad.
