Event Overview:

Energise Health will be presenting a webinar, delivered by leading Consultant Health Psychologist, international speaker and published author, Dr Sue Peackock. Sue is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist with experience in helping clients with clinical depression, sleep disorders and pain.

“Sleep Management in Complex Cases” will provide case managers with guidance, tips and techniques to support clients who have sound sleep hygiene strategies in place but who are still not sleeping.

Please note that this webinar will start at 1pm on a Friday

Presentation Aims:

This session aims to equip case managers with practical tools, techniques, and knowledge to support clients who already have good sleep hygiene strategies but continue to struggle with falling or staying asleep. Attendees will gain insights into the underlying causes of persistent sleep difficulties and learn evidence-based approaches to help clients move beyond standard sleep advice.

What You’ll Learn:

By the end of the session, attendees will be able to:

1.     Understand why sleep hygiene alone may not resolve sleep problems

o    Recognise the limits of traditional sleep hygiene advice.

o    Identify common psychological, medical, and lifestyle factors that continue to disrupt sleep.

2.     Apply evidence-based strategies for supporting clients

o    Use sleep restriction and stimulus control techniques to improve sleep quality.

o    Introduce clients to cognitive techniques such as paradoxical intention, thought-challenging, and worry time.

o    Guide clients on relaxation techniques to reduce hyperarousal at bedtime.

3.     Recognise when to screen and refer clients

o    Spot red flags for medical sleep disorders (e.g., sleep apnea, restless legs).

o    Understand when specialist assessment or GP input may be required.

4.     Support clients in building long-term resilience

o    Promote realistic expectations around sleep.

o    Encourage sustainable lifestyle habits that positively impact sleep and wellbeing.
