  • How do we deal with the difficulties we may face if we disagree with the particular package of care a CM has recommended or even implemented.

  • An overview of The Civil Procedure rules that govern Expert Witnesses Practice.
  • The legal principle that applies to a Care and OT Experts opinion.
  • The differences between factual and opinion evidence.

How will attendees benefit from the webinar?

To understand where the roles are both similar and different and why opinions may vary. The attendees will also understand how the reports that they provide as case managers are used by an Expert Witness. To understand what an Expert Witness is & how complimentary it is to the Case Management role.

Meet the Presenter

Jessica Thurston is Head of Medico-legal Operations and an Occupational Therapy & Care Expert Witness with Somek & Associates. She has been an expert witness for 23 years. Somek is one of the biggest providers of expert witnesses in the UK, delivering highly professional trained experts including occupational therapists, care experts, nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and other allied health professions. Jessica specialises in upper & lower limb amputees, care of the elderly, falls, trauma & orthopaedics, and general surgery and has considerable experience working with individuals who have lost limbs secondary to meningococcal septicaemia. She has given evidence in court and is highly recommended by Claimant and Defendant solicitors and barristers. She holds the Cardiff University Bond Solon Civil Expert Certificate.
