This study day aims to provide case managers with a practical insight into ways to optimise writing case management reports, as well as working with referring parties; utilising case management framework as well as understanding what referring parties (insurers, solicitors, counsel) find beneficial from the pivotal role of a case manager in working together to achieve great outcomes for clients.

Carole Chantler - IRCM Chair - Chair of the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Carole has been part of the project that led to the formation of IRCM since its inception. She has been a key member of the management group taking on various roles throughout its development.
Carole’s professional background is nursing, critical care. She commenced her case management career in Canada working in travel, private health and government health care case management.
In the late 90s she set up a case management company in the UK dealing with personal injury and has worked in this arena ever since.
She was a founding member of CMSUK, past chair and director. She obtained her Masters in Case Management in 2011.
Since 2004 Carole has worked for both Claimant and Defendant law firms advising on rehabilitation and health. She was a director of DWF for 5 years working closely with all parties involved in rehabilitation and progression of claims. She chaired the Cat Committee on the revision of the 2015 Rehabilitation Code.
Currently she has her own company where she works with all parties, advising on case management, rehabilitation and navigating statutory provision for Claimants when necessary.
Margot Widdup - Associate Case Manager at Unite Professionals. Margot works as a case manager, clinical supervisor and training lead for Unite Professionals and a care / occupational therapy expert for Jacqueline Webb. She has worked in both England and Australia across various inpatient and community rehabilitation settings, as well as case management in Australia, specialising in rehabilitation and return to work for clients with compensation claims arising from workplace injuries.
Margot has a varied case management caseload, including amputees, complex polytrauma, and mild – moderate brain injury. In her expert work, Margot predominantly works with lower limb amputees and those with physical disabilities.
Lucy Higgins has worked at RSA for over 20 years specialising in major and complex injury claims. She has spent most of her career managing Motability claims, gaining an in depth understanding of the impact accidents have on individuals and their families as well as on those living with disabilities. Through her work she has seen firsthand the opportunities Motability vehicles provide. Lucy has also been actively involved with the Liverpool Insurance Institute and had the honour of serving as President. She is a strong advocate for rehabilitation and collaborative, striving to achieve the best possible outcomes for all parties in a timely manner.
Julie Park is a Partner in our Complex & Catastrophic Loss Team who handles a range of large loss and catastrophic injury claims arising from road traffic accidents, as well as employers and public liability claims. Julie has a particular interest in brain, spinal and amputation injuries, including catastrophic claims involving children. Her caseload also includes claims involving Functional Neurological Disorder, chronic pain, fibromyalgia and polytrauma, as well as Fatal Accident Act claims. Julie has many years of experience in dealing with cases under the Serious Injury Guide, and managing jointly instructed rehabilitation packages, including attendance at MDT meetings. She regularly deals with cases involving statutory funding issues and the Court of Protection (both Financial and Health and Welfare Deputies), claims for accommodation, Provisional Damages and Periodical Payment Orders.
