Update from CMSUK Chair on working with other groups

CMSUK and BABICM have been involved in dialogue to look at areas of common interest where we could work together to further the profession of Case Management. Both organisations acknowledge we have differences that separate us but there are many other areas where we share common goals and visions. We are planning to meet again now that the new BABICM council have been elected and anticipate moving forward with this initiative of collaboration to further the good practice of Case Management. We are attending each others respective conferences and I recently attended BABICM’s pre conference dinner and their excellent conference as their guest.

We are also hoping to enter into dialogue with the VRA in order to involve them in areas of commonality where we can work with them to ensure maximum impact to raise the awareness of the Case Management profession, not only in the commercial industry, but also in the NHS.

With a view to raising the awareness of the NHS to Case Management, Jane Melvin a fellow director and I recently met with a representative from the NMC to discuss the role of the Case Manager in the NHS. We look forward to further dialogue and developing a closer working relationship with them in the future.
