A letter from the board: Response to Covid-19

Posted 28th April 2020

Please find a copy of the letter from the CMSUK Board regarding our most recent responses to the Covid-19 pandemic, dated 24th April 2020:

Dear member

Last week, we shared how CMSUK has been adapting our ways of working to meet the needs of our members during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this week’s update, we would like to share our plans regarding our two major annual events – the Awards Lunch and Conference.

We are delighted to announce that following the success of our Introduction to Paediatrics Virtual Study Day, we have made the decision to run our 2020 Conference in a digital format.

Our “Virtual Conference” will take place throughout the month of November and will feature 12 speakers, split across 4 separate sessions. Delegates will be able to purchase access to individual talks, sessions or the entire event and various sponsorship opportunities will also be made available. We are very excited about this new-format event and further details will be released in due course.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Awards Lunch. Taking into account current predictions, it is unlikely that social restrictions will have been completely lifted by September and we want to ensure we are looking after the wellbeing of our members. Our Events Committee, which is comprised of case managers and Directors from various organisations, also felt that in this time where every individual is going above and beyond the call of duty, it would be impossible to single out specific individuals for nomination.

The Events Committee is therefore focussed on increasing the delivery of high-quality webinars for our members and are finalising a jam-packed calendar of events planned for May and June. Further details will be released very soon.

In the meantime, please continue to get in touch with any questions and suggestions about how we can support you. We are here to help.

Kindest regards,

CMSUK Board
